• Friday 12 December 2025 Samba time in Year 4! This term in PE, we've been learning dance. We've explored the skills of mirroring, cannon, and unison, looking at ways we can build these into our choreographed dance. The term started with a spy theme but then the hall was alive with energy every Tuesday afternoon to the sound of Samba beats!

• Thursday 11 December 2025 Lighting up Y3! This term in Science, Year 3 have been learning all about light and how it helps us see the world around us. They discovered that light comes from a source, such as the Sun, torches, lamps, candles, and Christmas lights. They also learned that darkness is the absence of light.
• Friday 5 December 2025 Brrr! We're off to the Arctic! This week in the EYFS we delved into the world of the Arctic and Antarctic! The children thoroughly enjoy looking at these places on the globe and Google Earth and we spoke about their positioning on the globe being the cause of their extreme weather. The children were fascinated with the wildlife so we looked into this in more detail, learning about animals native to these regions. We had lots of exciting snow and ice themed enhancements out this week which you can see below. These included:

• Friday 5 December 2025 Marshmallows & Reindeers We started our day on -1 today. It was very icy and cold. The rain stayed away which was good. Year 1 needed to practise their nativity play in the afternoon so we had the whole class in the morning. As it was so cold I decided to split the group into 2. We did our crafty activity in our garden room and the other half of the class made a fire and roasted marshmallows.
• Thursday 4 December 2025 Year 4 on Cloud Nine as Water Cycle Work Rains Down Success! Our curious year 4 scientists have been hard at work, investigating the water cycle in ways that have brought both fun and learning right into their classroom. From setting up their own mini-clouds to watching rain form, their hands-on experiments have not only deepened their understanding but also sparked a love for science that is wonderful to see.

• Friday 28 November 2025 Diwali - Diva Lamps Last week in the EYFS we learnt all about Diwali, we celebrated with lots of Diwali-themed activities including making our very own clay diva lamps in Topic!
• Friday 28 November 2025 Alpacas, Donkeys & Sheep Yesterday, a dozen or so children were lucky enough to spend the afternoon at our local Dandelion Time farm.

• Friday 21 November 2025 Phonics - th, sh, ng, nk This week in phonics the EYFS children have learnt the final four phase 2 sounds - the digraphs: th, sh, ng and nk!
• Thursday 20 November 2025 Fencing Fit We had a lovely afternoon today with our FitFencing workshop! It was a fantastic introduction to the sport which gave the children the chance to learn and practise the basic movements in a fun and engaging way. We were taught how to stand in the correct fencing stance, move forwards and backwards with control, and use simple attack and defence actions. The session was active and well-structured, with clear demonstrations that helped the children feel confident and excited to try each skill. By the end of the workshop, the class showed great progress and enthusiasm, making it an enjoyable and memorable experience for everyone! Here are some of the things that we learnt:

• Thursday 13 November 2025 Walk(ing) like an Egyptian! This week, year 4 visited Maidstone Museum to help further our learning about Ancient Egyptians. After taking the train into Maidstone, we started our day with an archaeologist detective workshop where we discovered more about the role before putting our new knowledge to the test, digging up a whole host of artefacts. As the morning went on, we learnt about the process of mummification and were incredibly lucky to handle 4,000 year old statues, amulets and jewellery!

• Friday 7 November 2025 An interview with Neil Armstrong The children used good Oracy skills to ask Neil Armstrong some important questions about his space travel to the moon. He is one of the significant figures we are looking at in our History topic this term.
• Friday 7 November 2025 Bringing writing to life through magic! At East Farleigh, we're constantly looking for ways to enrich our children's writing! This week saw us welcome the hilarious Marli Magic to the school, to perform an extra special magic show just for year 3 and year 4, linking to our writing themed around the book Leon and the Place Between.

• Friday 7 November 2025 Bonfire Night in the EYFS This week in the EYFS we have learnt all about Guy Fawkes and why we celebrate Bonfire Night! The children shared their own experiences and traditions surrounding Bonfire Night and our classroom was full to the brim with exciting firework-themed activities!

• Friday 31 October 2025 Phonics - ss, ff, ll, j This week in phonics the EYFS children have been learning more digraphs! These are special digraphs known as 'double letter digraphs', the children learnt that these are only found in the middle or at the end of words and never at the start. We have also begun learning the last of our single sounds (phonemes) and started with j!
