Thursday 20 November 2025 Fencing Fit We had a lovely afternoon today with our FitFencing workshop! It was a fantastic introduction to the sport which gave the children the chance to learn and practise the basic movements in a fun and engaging way. We were taught how to stand in the correct fencing stance, move forwards and backwards with control, and use simple attack and defence actions. The session was active and well-structured, with clear demonstrations that helped the children feel confident and excited to try each skill. By the end of the workshop, the class showed great progress and enthusiasm, making it an enjoyable and memorable experience for everyone! Here are some of the things that we learnt:

Thursday 13 November 2025 Walk(ing) like an Egyptian! This week, year 4 visited Maidstone Museum to help further our learning about Ancient Egyptians. After taking the train into Maidstone, we started our day with an archaeologist detective workshop where we discovered more about the role before putting our new knowledge to the test, digging up a whole host of artefacts. As the morning went on, we learnt about the process of mummification and were incredibly lucky to handle 4,000 year old statues, amulets and jewellery!

Monday 27 October 2025 Squiggle While You Wiggle Every day in the EYFS we do something called 'Squiggle While You Wiggle', you may hear it called 'Squiggle Time' by your children! This is a gross motor programme designed to support early writing. Last term the children did a number of exercises each day during Squiggle Time, they quickly learnt that we were doing the exercises to get our bodies 'ready to learn'. By the end of term the class were able to complete all exercises with sustained attention and focus and much-improved techniques compared to week 1! This term we are moving onto big movements that will support letter formation and today we had our first session in the new format! The children used their 'flappers' (squares of fabric) to do the big movements, then we moved onto using the giant paper to recreate these movements with crayons! Today we focussed on up and down, side to side and criss-cross (both of the former but at the same time).
