Thursday 4 June 2026 Beware the Ides of March! Exploring Julius Caesar This week, Year 4 have begun an exciting new unit of work focusing on William Shakespeare's play Julius Caesar. The children have explored key scenes from the story through drama, bringing the text to life by acting out important moments and role-playing the characters' lines. This practical approach has helped pupils to understand the plot in greater depth and to sequence the events of the play with growing confidence. Working collaboratively, they have demonstrated excellent oracy skills, speaking clearly, listening carefully to one another, and using expression to convey meaning. The classroom has been full of enthusiasm as pupils stepped into the roles of Roman citizens, senators, and key figures from the drama. Through performance and discussion, they have developed both their comprehension and enjoyment of Shakespeare's language.

Friday 8 May 2026 Growing Plants and Hatching Chicks It's been a fantastic week in EYFS, with the children fully immersing themselves in our topic of Growing. We have had lots of exciting opportunities for hands-on learning and discovery. Our caterpillars have now all formed their chrysalises, and we are eagerly anticipating the arrival of butterflies before the end of next week. Observing the changes so closely has been a wonderful way for the children to develop their understanding of the lifecycle of a butterfly, supporting the EYFS Understanding the World ELG as they explore and talk about the natural world around them.

Thursday 19 March 2026 Comminigrow morning in East Malling The sun shone bright for our team of 12 Eco Warriors this morning on our wonderful trip to Communigrow in East Malling. Communigrow is a sustainable food education charity. We learnt so much about how we can decrease our greenhouse gases to help slow down global warming. This was by learning how we can grow our own food which in turn uses less energy and is way more healthy. It was fascinating to learn about how many different types of composting methods there are. We saw them in action too. The children loved learning about the wormary. The site also has composting toilets. They are completely off grid. They have solar panels which supply's energy, it is then stored in huge battery's. This enables them to have lights, use a kettle and even charge their strimmers and lawnmowers which are re chargeable. All the water is harvested from the rain for watering the plants and vegetables they grow.

For feel, they were asked to take off shoes and socks and walk barefoot on the ground.
