Friday 6 February 2026 Year 2 birdsong I had a fantastic day with year 2. We were learning about common British birds we all find in our gardens, parks and school grounds. The children were really enthusiastic about this subject which was so lovely for me as I love birds! We listened to some birdsong of various birds - the challenge was to see if the children could tell what species was ‘singing'. I gave the children an identification sheet to help them with their bird watching at home. Hopefully it will come in handy. We then took some time to hear the beautiful bird song in our school garden. It was amazing because in our small space we must have heard at least 6 different types of birds.

Friday 6 February 2026 Science Week - EYFS During Science Week, our EYFS class had a fantastic time exploring and experimenting like real scientists! The children loved taking part in class experiments including walking water, dancing popcorn and a “sink or float” investigation, where they made predictions and shared their discoveries. We also enjoyed a carousel of hands-on activities such as rainbow bubbles, string telephones, milk fireworks, DIY lava lamps and making oobleck, which sparked lots of curiosity and excitement. To make the week even more special, we had visits from the mobile zoo Jaws and Claws, where we met some amazing animals, and a travelling planetarium where we learnt all about the planets and space. It was a wonderful week full of exploration, questioning and discovery!
