Year 6 - History Day WW2
On Monday, Year 6 had a WW2 History Day to finish off their topic 'Britain at War'. During the day, they explored the Battle of Britain and how it can be seen as a turning point in WW2. Year 6 were really moved by Churchill's words: "Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few." They reflected on what these words meant and spoke in detail about the sacrifice and bravery of the pilots.
Year 6, then went on to compare and contrast the decisions of leaders during WW2 and debated the significance of their actions. They also researched and presented a narrative about the end of WW2, looking closely at D Day, The Battle of the Bulge and VE Day. To finish their unit, they then explored propaganda posters and analysed what these revealed about the war and took a knowledge test. Well done Year 6 - fabulous learning!
