Year 1's adventurous day in the woods
It was our final session at Hamlet Wood this year. I shared the day with year 1. We had glorious sunshine which made the day even more special.
The children were nature detectives and used 4 senses - sight, touch, sound and hearing. They went in the hunt for things that smelt good, we listened to the sounds of birds and buzzing bees. We also found different textures to touch. We found things like moss, ferns, tree bark and smooth stones. The children used their oracy skills and told the class about some of the items they found and why they liked them. It was lovely to hear their expressions and see the excitement of their discoveries.
Den building in the afternoon before lunch was a hit. The children were so excited to get creative and use their imaginations.
