Year 1 get Creative with Outdoor Learning

Year 1 had a wonderful time embracing the great outdoors during today’s outdoor learning day! The children enjoyed exploring nature, collecting natural treasures and using their creativity and imagination to turn their finds into some fantastic works of art.

Armed with curiosity and enthusiasm, the children headed off on a nature hunt to discover what they could find. Sticks, acorns, leaves and other natural treasures soon became the inspiration for a variety of wonderful creations. The children used clay and their natural finds to make adorable hedgehogs, bugs and other animals, while sticks were transformed into quirky stick people with funky clothes and fabulous hairstyles!

We also got busy preparing for our upcoming Harvest Service by making beautiful leaf crowns. The children experimented with leaf printing, discovering the different shapes, patterns and textures of the leaves they had collected. They also used their outdoor treasures to create imaginative animal pictures, showing just how much creativity can be found in nature.

There was plenty of fun and laughter along the way, too! We played a game called ‘That’s Not My Stick’, which really got the children thinking outside the box. They had to use their imaginations to see how an ordinary stick could become something completely different. It was wonderful to hear their ideas and see how enthusiastically they joined in.

Most of all, we were so proud of the children’s positive attitudes throughout the day. They approached each activity with excitement, curiosity and a willingness to try new things. It was a joy to see them so engaged in nature craft, appreciating the world around them and discovering just how much fun learning outdoors can be.

Well done, Year 1, for a fantastic day of creativity, imagination and outdoor adventure!
