Hamlet wood Forest school with year 4

It’s been a lovely day down in the woods with year 4.

We followed the same activities I’ve done with other classes the last couple of weeks. It amazes me each time how each class and different children respond.  Year 4 absolutely loved and embraced our ‘connect to the earth’ slow sensory scavenger hunt.  One of the things they were encouraged to do was take off their shoes and walk bare foot for a little bit.  I was impressed with how many children did this.  They all said they enjoyed it.  It’s such an excellent exercise in helping reset our nervous system and helping our body’s regulate.

 Den building was a great success and the children had so much fun creating a hideaway spot. We then made lunch on the fire and then had a treat of roasting giant marshmallows. The children had to find some long sticks which we shaved the ends of so they could add their marshmallow to roast. Lots of fun was had ☺️
