Gruffalo Granny comes to Year 1 virtually!

Year 1 were incredibly excited to be one of six thousand schools who attended the special event (hosted by The British Library), to celebrate the release of Julia Donaldson's much anticipated new book 'Gruffalo Granny'.  They were treated to a performance of 'The Gruffalo' by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler as they introduced their newest story.  The children particularly enjoyed the voice of the Gruffalo and were able to cite lines from the story throughout. 

They then were in for a real surprise as Julia read to them live 'Gruffalo Granny'; the room was filled with laughter and excitement as they recognised references to many of her other stories. It was wonderful to see their faces light up as they saw 'Snail and the Whale' appear in the story.

The event finished with Axel teaching them how to draw Gruffalo Granny.  He guided them through step by step of how to draw her. We were amazed by how good some of them were. Well done Year 1!
