Beware the Ides of March! Exploring Julius Caesar
This week, Year 4 have begun an exciting new unit of work focusing on William Shakespeare’s play Julius Caesar. The children have explored key scenes from the story through drama, bringing the text to life by acting out important moments and role-playing the characters’ lines. This practical approach has helped pupils to understand the plot in greater depth and to sequence the events of the play with growing confidence. Working collaboratively, they have demonstrated excellent oracy skills, speaking clearly, listening carefully to one another, and using expression to convey meaning. The classroom has been full of enthusiasm as pupils stepped into the roles of Roman citizens, senators, and key figures from the drama. Through performance and discussion, they have developed both their comprehension and enjoyment of Shakespeare’s language.
