At our school, we believe in the importance of learning languages from an early age. Our Spanish curriculum is designed to introduce children to the Spanish language and culture in an engaging and interactive way. By learning Spanish, children develop communication skills, cultural awareness, and a love for languages that will benefit them throughout their lives.

Cultural Awareness: Simple introductions to Spanish-speaking countries, traditions, and festivals.

Key Stage 2 (KS2):

Building Vocabulary: Expanding vocabulary to include more complex phrases and sentences.

Grammar Foundations: Introduction to basic grammar concepts such as gender, singular and plural forms, and simple verb conjugations.

Conversational Skills: Practice in speaking and listening through role-playing, dialogues, and interactive activities.

Teaching Methods

We are extremely fortunate to have our own native Spanish speaking teacher.   Spanish lessons are dynamic and interactive, using a variety of teaching methods to cater to different learning styles:

Interactive Whiteboards and Digital Resources: Incorporating technology to make lessons interactive and engaging.

Group Activities: Encouraging collaboration and communication among students through group work and peer learning.

Cultural Immersion: Bringing Spanish culture to life with food tastings, music, dance, and art projects.

Extracurricular Activities

To complement our Spanish curriculum, we offer a range of extracurricular activities that provide additional language practice and cultural experiences:

Spanish Club: A weekly club where students can practice their Spanish in a fun, relaxed environment.

Exchange Programs: We are currently seeking opportunities for children to connect with pupils  in schools of Spanish-speaking countries.

Enhanced Cognitive Skills: Language learning supports cognitive development, problem-solving, and critical thinking.

Improved Communication: Ability to communicate with millions of Spanish speakers worldwide.
