Year 1 on a Mission

To introduce our new book for this term, Year 1 took part in a scavenger hunt in the playground to search for clues.

Around the playground were 17 photos. The children worked in pairs to draw pictures and label what they found. 

When we came back to the classroom, we brought our findings together and wrote down everything we found such as.

• 3 bowls
• 3 beds
• 3 chairs
• porridge
• a forest 
• a cottage 

The children were still a little bit confused as to what these pictures may mean...until they were told it was a clue about our next book. Suddenly the lightbulb moment came...GOLDILOCKS!

We then went on to re-write the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We will then move onto our book this term which is an alternative version; Goldilocks and Just the One Bear.
