Y3 Advice Hotline

In Year 3 this week, we have been thinking about whether or not the main character of our story, Leon, should step into the mysterious magic box, and explain their reasons clearly. To help them make a sensible choice, they first thought carefully about the pros and cons.

The children explored the pros such as the idea that the box might lead Leon to an amazing adventure. They suggested he could discover new places, meet magical characters, or learn something important. Many children felt that if Leon was feeling brave and curious, the box could offer exciting possibilities.

They also considered the cons. The class discussed that Leon didn’t know what was inside the box, so it might be dangerous or frightening. Some children pointed out that he might not be able to get back easily or could end up somewhere unsafe. Thinking about safety helped them make a more balanced decision.

After weighing up both sides, each child wrote advice for Leon, either telling him to step into the magic box or warning him not to. They then had to justify their decision using clear reasoning to explain why their choice was the best one for Leon.

The children did a great job considering both sides of the argument and have written some fantastic advice for Leon!
