World Mental Health Day 2025 in the EYFS!
Today, Friday 10th October 2025, is World Mental Health Day! To mark this important event everyone was invited to wear yellow clothes or accessories, don't they look great?
In the EYFS we spoke about what mental health is and how this differs from physical health, we thought of emotions we may experience if we have poor mental health, the children suggested: sadness, frustration, tiredness and more.
We had a lengthy discussion about what we can do if we are feeling low, the children thought of some excellent suggestions of things we can do to make ourselves feel better:
- Talk to somebody like your Mummy, Daddy or a teacher
- Have a cuddle with your Mummy, Daddy or other family member
- Have a treat (jammy dodgers were suggested!)
- Go outside for some fresh air, or to the park
- Play with your toys
- Cuddle your favourite teddy
- Read your favourite book
- Have some time alone in peace and quiet
- Exercise, go for a walk or out on your bike/scooter
- Have a nap
- Cuddle your pet
- Look at pictures of your favourite things/people (sonic poster!)
We spent the day doing other themed activities including a yellow craft activity, World Mental Health Day themed yoga, mindfulness breathing and singing!
