Square VS Cube
This week, we began to explore the different properties of 2D and 3D shapes.
We noted that 2D shapes have corners and sides, whilst the properties of 3D shapes were their faces, edges and vertices.
We explored what this new vocabulary meant with the help of Colin the Cube. We consolidated this knowledge through a rapid-fire game (the ‘Cube Challenge’), where we identified edges, vertices/ a vertex and faces on a cube.
From this, we considered the ways that a square differed from a cube, and identified their respective properties.
We then explored a range of 3D shapes and worked together to identify how many faces, edges and vertices each shape had.
