Easter in the EYFS!
We have had an excellent week celebrating Easter in the EYFS. We have tried to incorporate the Easter theme into all of our lessons and our environment.
In our child initiated sessions we have enjoyed an Easter themed playdough station, making Easter cards, making chick collages and even dyeing hard boiled eggs like the characters do in our book of the week 'Pick a Perfect Egg' by Patricia Toht.
In Maths this week we have enjoyed playing track games and more/less games with our friends Chick and Bunny, we have made repeating patterns with easter eggs and worked our fine motor skills to put a specific number of eggs into an egg container using kitchen tongs!
In Topic this week we were surprised to find a large present had been left in our classroom while we were on the playground! We read the attached letter that let us know it was from the Easter Bunny! In the letter he asked that we write him a note guessing what was in the present, then when he'd had a reply from everyone, we could open the gift! The children worked hard throughout the week, using their phonics skills to write their guesses. On Thursday when everyone had had a turn, we carefully unwrapped the present to find a....... puzzle! The children worked hard to put the puzzle together and when it was complete we saw that it said 'It's time for an egg hunt!' The children dashed out to the garden to find they each had an egg hidden with their name on, filled with miniature chocolate eggs! It was a brilliant afternoon.
We finished the week singing our wonderful song 'Spring Chicken' in the church with our Year 1 friends.
From everyone in the EYFS, we wish you a Happy Easter! :)
