A Mindful Forest School
Today Forest School looked a little different. We still enjoyed a forest school experience, but with a mindfulness and wellbeing theme.
It's so important to take a minute, breath and actualy see what is around us.
The Forest School ethos emphasizes a child-centered, holistic approach to learning in a natural environment, fostering resilience, confidence, and a connection with nature through play, exploration, and supported risk-taking.
Today we really explored that holistic approach in a natural environment. We buit a connection with nature, albeit only for a few hours.
We looked at 5 words : Beauty, Emotion, Compassion, Meaning and Contact. We really explored how we can connect to nature through these elements.
The session started with a sound bath. It was a beautiful day for this with the sun shining.
The children really embraced this experience. I read a beautiful story called Bloom to the children as well, highlighting how we all need to love and appreciate ourselves and those around us. Love and appreciation go a long way in life..
We can use mindfulness in nature to help us with anxiety, stress and overwhelm.
